The lesson material can be exploited flexibly according to the size and kind of class you have. The Teacher's Book gives suggestions for warmers at the beginning of each lesson, optional activities throughout each lesson, and consolidation, extension, end-of-class activities and homework. Lesson 4 of each unit has five sections covering Reading. Listening, Speaking. Writing and Study Skills. The Study Skills section helps the students develop as independent learners, and highlights useful idiomatic language through real English. The Review revises the language of the unit and ends with a song. What about grammar? Lessons 1-3 in each unit focus on particular grammatical points. These are highlighted in the lesson heading, in Grammar Files which students complete, and in Look! boxes. Vocabulary development is systematic and the Word List gives lesson-by-lesson coverage of all new words. Students are encouraged to develop their own vocabulary notebooks in the Study Skills sections. What about the story? The story, Time Travel, follows the grammatical syllabus of the book and is designed to be done on completion of each unit. What about pairwork? As with projects, the Pairwork Activities are a flexible resource which can be exploited during or at the end of a unit, with the whole or part of the class. What about projects? There are nine projects at the back of the Student s Book, one for each unit. Each project encourages the students to make a page for a Shine magaziné. At the end of the book students can display their magaziné in class. The projects are intended to be used flexibly. Somé teachers may wish to do a project with the whole class after completing a unit while others may wish to integrate the project as they progress through the unit. Other options include using the projects for homework. or with the more confident students in mixed ability classes. Projects provide a valuable resource for student creativity and self-expression.
