INTRODUCTORY REMARKS More and more English-speaking people are visiting Spain, but few know Spanish, For these a phrase book is essential. This one is modelled closely on the French and German Phrase Books in the Teach Yourself series, published by the English Universities Press since the War. Its obvious and principal aim is to help the traveller in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries with the language and customs of the country. Before learning the vocabularies and phrases, the reader should study carefully the chapter on Pronunciation and have regular practise pronouncing the exercises aloud. The Grammar Section will be useful for reference, especially for those who already have a knowledge of Spanish, French or Latin grammar. We wish to acknowledge with deep thanks the help afforded us so willingly by our many friends in Spain and England who have supplied us with some of the technical data included in the book. W. W. T.
