Bővebb ismertető
Preface Internál medicine is a broad, expanding field with numerous subspecialty areas. This third edition attempts to cover pertment and important topics in these areas. Obviously, in a text of this size, several major topics could be covered only briefly. Less common but nonetheless important clinical entities are included to provide the reader with a passing knowledge of these disease processes. Occasionally, certain important points are repeated in a different form for emphasis. The formát of the questions, which include several patient management problems, should prove helpful in improving skills in multiple-choice testing techniques, especially for those who will be taking certification and recertification examinations in internál medicine. The third edition of this text has been both updated and enlarged. The questions and annotated answers have been developed from a wide variety of sources, including recent textbooks, monographs, and journals available in most health science libraries. Referral to these sources should be made for a more complete discussion of the topics covered. Certain medications mentioned in this text may not have specific approval by the Food and Drug Administration with regard to the indications and dosages. The manufacturers' package inserts are the best sources of information for current prescribing guidelines. As with other specialties, somé of the subject matter of internál medicine will become obsolete as new knowledge is gained. I would be grateful for any suggestions, qualifications, or corrections for use in future editions. Róbert E. Pieroni, MD
