Bővebb ismertető
Foreword
You are starting to learn English. This book is going to help you to enjoy learning English.
Of course you need to learn grammar. The grammar in this book will make it easier for you to say what you really mean and to understand what other people say.
We know that you want to talk about yourself, your friends and the things around you and the book helps you to do this. Then it helps you to say 'yes' or 'no' to invitations, to ask someone how to get somewhere and how to tell the time.
Of course this is not enough. You want to talk about yesterday, today and tomorrow, and the book shows you how to do this too.
If you want to use your Enghsh, you will have to learn a lot of new words. You will also have to learn to agree and disagree, to use the telephone, to ask for things, to apologise when you make a mistake and to do it all in English.
You will soon be able to read and understand a short piece of written English and by the end of the book you will be able to understand the news on television or radio and write a letter in English. You will never be lost when you are with Enghsh-speaking people and you will have plenty of practice in hstening to, reading and writing English.
This book will help you to do all these things. But you will also have to work at home; reading the book is not enough.
I should like to thank Michael Thorn for his contributions and advice throughout the preparation of this book and Joy McKellen for her very useful editorial help.
Now it's up to you. Enjoy yourself. . . .
