FOREWORD The present work was presented as a doctoral thesis at the Theological Faculty of the Catholic University of Budapest (Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem) in 1996. Part of it was prepared for the exam (candidatus ad doctoratum) at the end of the doctoral year in the Pontifical Bible Institute in Rom with the help of prof. Albert Vanhoye. The work remains substantially unchanged, only somé corrections and bibliographical items have been added. I am grateful to prof.
