Bővebb ismertető
In the series of civilisations the Ottoman Empire is recognised as one of the most important chapters. The brightest and greatest period of the Empire was during the reign of the Emperor called by the westerners Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent and by the Turks Sultan Suleyman the Lawgiver (Kanunî).The name of Suleyman the Lawgiver was inprinted to the pages of history not only by organising his empire with great abilities and providing justice for all but he also upgraded the Ottoman science and culture to the level of the highest peaks. This exhibitionhallmarked by the name of Suleyman the Magnificentwhich has tourned around in many European, American and Asian capitals is now hosted by the capital of a country being herself a cultural treasure troveBudapest. This is our greatest honour to introduce these unique relics to the people of Hungary and through this opportunity to other nations as well. The Hungarian-Turkish relations are well rooted deep in the past. During the years of Ottoman Empire these ties became more direct making the way for the culture of the two nations to converge and for creating an everlasting friendship. The opening of the exhibition has great importance because of the historic past. Many Hungarian towns are decorated with well preserved Turkish heritage buildings and there are numerous related pieces of high value in the Hungarian museums. The exhibitions has its significance by providing place for the treasures of Hungarian museums besides the pieces from Turkish collections.I truly believe that this exhibition will further strenghten the existing good realtions between the two countries and focus the attention on our common cultural heritage.I'm wishing wealth and happiness to the people of Hungary with all my heart and at the same time I wish to express my thanks to all those Hungarian and Turkish organisations and authorities who made their contribution to the successfull implementation of this exhibition.SLJLEYMAN DEMIRELPresident of the Republic of Turkey
