Bővebb ismertető
PREFACE George de Schweinitz presented us with a problem when he submitted ten unsolicited poems. H1s work was of such freshness, sensitivity, and consistent quality that we were unable to select one or two poems to fit into our usual anthology formát. Publishing sixteen or twenty poets in an issue occasionally produces a fragmented impresslon, because Sulphur Ríver seeks the best work rather than an untextured, orderly whole. By devoting this éri ti re issue to de Schweinitz's poetry, we are able to entertain a new perspective, displaying the varied work of a single consciousness shaped by vision and experience. The maturity, reflectiveness, and uniqueness of this poet is made clear in the introduction by Bob Gaskin, his friend and former student, who holds the MA from Lamar University. The quaíities vividly evident in the poems leave us only to state our respect for George de Schweinltz's achievement. The Editors
