TRIBUTARIES This issuc marks a new beginning of the Sulphur Rioer Poetry Review. Not just bccause the magaziné now has a new cditor, or becausc of the addition of two new feature? (this coiumn and the PostScript), but rather becausc of a new d ed kation on the part of the publication's supporters to once again exhibit their interest and beiief in a magaziné dcdicatcd to the promotion of the litcrary art*. It is fór them that this coiumn is created-to thank them for all they have donc for me and the magaziné. Their names are too numerous to mention here, but I would üke to single out thosc members of the faculty and staff of East Texas State Univcrsity, and spccifcally those members of the Department of Literature and Languagcs who did not hesitate to gívc gcncrously when it was necded the most. And their gcncrosity has not been limited to monctary gifls. Many of these pcople have gone bcyond the point of being mentora and supporters to become friends, and for this I am most grateful. I would be remiss in my duties as editor if I neglected to thank alsó the poets represented here and in futurc issuct. Their paticnce has been most remarkable-some of them waiting for six years while the magaziné was "on the shclf" before the returaof their submissions. Many of them immediately made new submissions by which they exhibited a bclicf in mc that I hope I can live up to. And I cannot express how it kefe to publish poems by poets whose works I have been reading fór yeare-poets üke Walt MacDonald, Lyn Lifshin, and Laurel Speer. Nor can I exptoin the exatemestoí finding a new voéce worthy of being heard. These are the rcwards of being editor. Many of the poets have continued to correspond, cnríching my lifc with their interest andsupport. To these I give a special thanks, but to all the poets represented hete 1 send my hopes that what I have donc rcflects the respcct I fcel fór them and their work. We are lucky to be able to feature the photography of James Newbcrry in this issue Mr. Newberry is a faculty member of East Texas State Univosty where he tcaches photography, and his work is highly respccted. I wold alsó likc to thank Laurd Spccr for writing the first PostScript, the other new feature of the Sulphur Rioer Poetry Review, wherein one oí the poets represented gets to discus* the art on individual terms. Alsó, a special thanks to Gary Sutton of Sutton Press in Texarkana for the exccllent work he continucs to do for us, and to Cathy Márkus, whose asusUnce with the layout is invaluable. I cannot teli you what hard work has gone into this, what scemingly endless series of problems have been overcome, what it fcels üke to finally be able to dcliver to you what is likc a dream come true.. .but here it is. At last.
