1 Foreword
The SuSE Linux Network manual provides architecture-independent know-how about SuSE Linux in the network. This book is directed to Linux users without previous experience in setting up networks as well as experienced system administrators who are seeking information on special topics or features of SuSE Linux in the network. The first part is devoted to network configuration; subsequently, we will guide you to the Internet. In the following, we will also introduce several applications such as FTP, the Apache web server and the proxy server Squid. The last chapter of this manual will handle the important topics of security, firewalls and masquerading.
Although installation support is extensive, any network setup is not included. We will, however, not leave you alone, but offer extensive information and help all around SuSE Linux at:
