Bővebb ismertető
1997 - 1998 - 1999. You are about to read the third edition of the Paris Endovascular Therapy Course textbook. This book, !ust like the ETC, is already full of both traditions and innovations.
Traditions - in the format and in the contents dedicated to the treatment of peripheral extra-coronary arterial diseases; in the comprehensive review of endovascular techniques; in the table of contents divided into sites, techniques, and clinical cases.
Innovations - thanks to the contributions of both our returning and our new authors, descriptions of innovative, pioneering, and experimental techniques, along with extensive new illustrations.
This book represents a unique yearly editorial effort to renew and encompass data in the field of peripheral angioplasty. It is therefore a reliable landmark insofar as the evolution of endoluminal procedures is concerned, and how the different techniques of various disciplines should be performed and taught (e.g., surgery, cardiology, radiology, angiology).
This work is also the product of a great technical effort on the part of the Organization Committee, which faces the challenges of producing and printing this book for which the manuscripts are submitted in the early days of March to assure maximum timeliness. Thus typos and errors may be noted now and then, inherent to the rapid turnaround of the material.
This book is part of a large didactic program, which is the hallmark of ETC. Its contents complement the live cases dedicated to peripheral arterial disease. This year, peripheral angioplasty procedures will be performed by international experts such as G. Biamino transmitted live from Hamburg, T.O. MacNamara, A. Motarjeme, E. Diethrich, and |, Theron transmitting from Nancy, and S. Ramee and C. White transmitted from New Orieans. New for this year is the session entitled "Angioplasty from A to Y" during which live cases will be broadcast focusing on the step-by-step procedures for each type of intervention (e.g., iliac, renal, subclavian) and will present in detail indications and techniques. The audience will thus be able to compare their own practice to that of selected experts.
Symposia and technical forums will enable smaller groups of participants to sharpen their knowledge and to meet with the experts.
The exhibition area, which is unique in Europe, complements this teaching event. It is extremely large and varied, stands at the crossroads of ETC, and provides an extraordinary communication network for exchanges between companies, experts from different disciplines, and attendees from different countries, while offering an opportunity to continue to observe the live broadcasts.
At this crossroads, ETC actually becomes a global and not just international course. We are proud and delighted to share in the organization again this year with Jean IVlarco, lean Fajadet and IVlarie-Claude Morice on the scientific front, and IVlarc Doncieux on the organizational and technical front.
May this third edition of the Course pave the way to increased knowledge and tolerance in the next millenium. May this Course provide a summary of the world of medicine in which we believe for the coming century.
Accept here our warmest welcome. Welcome to the year 2000!
