guest EditorialBarry Chamish his Israeli UFO lecturesI had the opportunity to sit through Barry Chamish's UFO presentation at 2 seperate venues, namely UFO Research (NSW) at the Masonic lodge m Sydney and Peter Khoury's UFOESA meeting at his home. Both presentations were pretty similar, although the one at Peter's was in a more relaxed venue with home theatre facilities, proceded by an excellent barbacue - way to go Peter. At both presentations the quality of the video used by Barry caused some signal display problems, but overall his lectures gave a good accoimting of the IsraeH wave, particularly the "giant" encoimters and the landing events. On both occassions 1 found the presentation on the UFO video wave underwhelming. While it seemed pretty obvious to many, not just me, that the videos of "pineapples", "apples", "coins with inscriptions!" etc were artifactual effects due to video camera zooming lens geometry/light source variations, Barry Chamish seemed incapable or unwilling to entertain that possibility. In fact he seemed to have issues with any dissenting questions, which was irritating for researcher/investigator types who wanted to ask what seemed reasonable questions.Basically it seemed to me and others that the presentations were this is what "I" (Barry Chamish) want to tell you, and no textual variations or debate will be tolerated. At Peter's venue, during a break I managed to catch up with Barry and asked him if any investigator in Israel had tried control light source filming experiments with the video cameras used. He said he was not aware of any. 1 asked him if he had done any, he said no , and then he promptly begged off for a smoke. I was disappointed that there seemed to be problems with asking probing questions of Barry Chamish's presentationsBy then 1 was of a mind to hope that Barry's political writings investigations were undertaken with more rigour than with what seemed suggested by the UFO video "investigations".Still we have Barry Chamish to thank for making the giant/landing events more widely available. It would be very interesting to get much wider and more detailed confirmations of these extraordinary events beyond Barry's accountings. Some of the Israeli researchers have provided these details aheady but it would be great to see even more, given the extraordinary nature of the events.Prior to lectures I had read Barry Chamish's book on the wave, "Return of the Giants". While it gives a basic accoimting of the key events, the photos inside are of poor quality. The book also seemed to need a more careful editing job, but this could have been a publishing issue. There are minor contradictions in the text, for example with one of the giant's limited conversations, bemg described ('quoted") differently in two different locations in the book, without explanation. Given the giants said little, I would have thought that at least what they said could have been consistently reported, or if there was doubt or variations, it would have been commented upon.Barry Chamish posits that the return ofthe giants has specific and telling implications for Israel, with bibhcal resonnances, tied up in some sort of convoluted and rather unconvincmg conspiracy with roots in the new World order, the Illuminati etc etc. His musings there I fovmd unconvincing, but not surprising for a writer caught up in the turbulent issues of Israel and middle east politics and events. Giants, although rare in the UFO literature, have been reported elsewhere, such as Voronesh in Russia, so what does that do for Chamish's Israeh focused hypothesis.Bill ChalkerHave You Ever Levitated?Lévitation can occur during alien abduction experiences, meditation, religious ecstasy, shiamanic experiences, spirit possession, poltergeist activity, or during seances.
