EditorialTHE UFO PHENOMENON IN AUSTRALIAI I, I' i i; i 'I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Moravec for giving us permission to publish this collection of works by Australia's formost authorities on UFO Research. It was intended to have all this material in one issue but budget constraints didn't permit us to do this. So you will see a two part Special Collector's Edition of the Australasian Ufologist Magazine. It has been a monumental effort putting this together and many apologies for not keeping with its release with Volume 7 No 1 of the Ufologist. It has taken me two years of prodding to finally get this to you, our Australian readers, and I didn't want to rush things.Besides a couple of small contributions from Mark Moravec, this issues marks the first time we have been able to obtain from him a good selection of his best works. It is hoped that this won't be an isolated event, but will continue to contribute towards the Australasian Ufologist Magazine from this point on. As youwill read his works, you'll find that they are thoroughly researched and make for interesting reading. So with this issue we have the following articles: Introduction (Mark Moravec), The UFO Phenomenon in Australia: A Brief History (Mark Moravec), Australia's Best UFO Cases (Mark Moravec), The Beings: Entities in Association with the Australian UFO Phenomenon (Keith Basterfield), The Knowles Family Encounter (John Auchettl), Analysing UFOs on Video (Bryan Dickeson) and Paranormal Elements (Mark Moravec). The next issue is even more fascinating with an article about government and military involvement in the Australian UFO Controversy. So stay tuned.Other news. After much delay the article in the NSW police news the official journal of the police association of NSW has made it to the pages of the May edition. Page 9 transcript as follows Under the section items of interest heading UFO HOTLINEPolice are often the first point of contact for members of the public wishing to report unusual phenomena such as UFO sightings. Doug Moffett, state director of the Australian UFO Research Network, said his organisation runs a freecall hotline specifically for those who wish to report UFO's or UAPs (unusual aerial phenomena). "Our role is to identify the object as terrestrial, if indeed it is, and to collate information on genuine unknowns. There have been occasions where members of the public have become upset by something as simple as Venus. It is clear that police do not have the manpower or resources to investigate such reports"The Australian UFO Research Network is a non profit organisation. The hotline number is 1800 772288.I am now pleased to present this overview of Australian UFO research to the Australian public.Have You Ever Levitated?Lévitation can occur during alien abduction experiences, meditation, religious ecstasy, shamanic experiences, spirit possession, poltergeist activity, or during seances.
