IntroductionThere is an alterna te story of the life of Jesus. It is a very human story, onethat has been suppressed for nineteen centuries. Those of you who are notfamiliar with this story may find it disturbing. If so, you are not alone. Theearly Church fathers found the books that chronicled this story so menac-ing that they outlawed them, ordered them burned, and threatened anyonefound copying them with death.Remember that what follows is based on actual documents recoveredfrom archaeological sites in the Middle East, or respected repositories ofancient literature, like the Vatican library.Yeshua ben Miriam's story, that is, the story of Jesus, the son of Mary,as told in these books, is brilliant and tragic. It is the story of a man whoseown family thought he was mad (Mark 3:21). It is the story of a man whomet a violent end at the hands of Roman authorities. Nearly all of the an-cient texts verify that Yeshua was crucified as the "King of the Jews." Hewas not, as many movies and books would have us believe, a meek manwho spent his time spinning parables and healing the sick. Such a Jesuswould have been a threat to no one. The historical Jesus did threaten andenrage people, from the priestly aristocracy in the Jerusalem temple to theRoman prefect who finally condemned him to be crucified. He was a controversial figure. For many of you, this will be a contro-versial book.
