IntroductionThe following volume is a product of the joint action of social scientists through East-West networks. The first four sections contain materials of the Second Coordinate Conference of Central European Political Science Associations held in Budapest 05.-07. 10. 1995. This conference was embedded in a broader cooperation of three political science associations described shortly below.Let us give You some information about the regional cooperation of the Political Science Associations of Austria, Hungary, Slovenia. In the region of Alpen-Adria of Central Europe there are common roots and common problems of the social sciences. This makes regional cooperation of the three national associations desirable, and the end of the East-West confrontation possible. In this region, there are new conflicts emerging, and political science should try to contribute to their solutions and to avoid their escalation. Development toward these aims is promoted by regional e.xchange and cooperation of the three associations.Areas of cooperation and exchange secure free flow of information and experiences on and of the scientific communities through discussions and other forms of communication. This is organized as follows;1.E.xchange of statutes and membership records of the associations, mutual publication of "state of art" reports with descriptions on the condition of political science, exchange of periodicals and publications. The language of communication is English and German.2.Mutual information on annual and other relevant meetings/IPSA committees, international conferences/, invitation of participants and speakers from the cooperating countries. General information for committees of national associations on this cooperation and the possibility of joint sessions, invitations etc. Information of the International Political Science Association on Uie regional cooperation and publication about in the IPSA journal "Participation".3.A series of joint conferences, each organized by national associations. These include three conferences in 1994-1996. with participants from all cooperating countries. There is a continuity and change in each years participating group. Papers of the conferences are published.
