chapter X Audrey tried out a horrible grin at her reflection in the mirror. She smoothed the shiny-black folds of her long witch dress, and set the tall, pointed hat carefully on her head. It was a neat Halloween costume, she thought. Francine had cut out the dress and sewed it on Mom's machine and had helped her make the hat. And all those silver bats and cats and moons on the hat and dress had been glued on by Jimmy. Audrey herself had made the hideous mask. She put it on now and went down to show the family. There was a general gasp of horror as she walked in, cackling like an old crone.
