Bővebb ismertető
ForewordHere reproduced for the first time ever, ihe whole sequence of the paintings better known as the " Feuillet de Conches colfedion". Each depids one of La Fontaine Fables in the manner of the traditional miniatűré painting. They were made from 1837, a Mogul, therefore a Muslim artist, under the protedion of a Sikh, Ranjit Singh, Maharajah of Lahore, King of Penjab. The work had been commissioned by a French generál posted in India. In that sense, they illustrate a Httle-known episode of the Franco-Indian relationship. These miniatures give us an exotic vision of the classical Fables, away from the traditional occidental interpretation, permeated with new meanings. And not least in its appeal is the capricious stroll into La Fontaine's masterpiece that this refreshing anthologj offers us.
