I plead guilty to the charge of being a competitive guy. In football or car racing, the urge to compete gets me fired up about life.
Competitive racing involves tight passes and split-second timing, and it requires minute-by-minute courage and an uncompromising willingness to seize the moment. The sport demands a strong character, endurance, and nerves of steel—^for drivers and team members!
In many ways, the boldness of racing is like walking with the Lord. Drivers willingly endure g-forces at every turn for hundreds of laps, staying alert for that momentary opening that will help them gain a position. Christians, too, strive to focus on God's leading in their lives, hoping to be prepared when His plan comes into view. Like the Winston Cup® drivers, Christians try to stay on the right line and out of trouble, especially when the metal starts flying and the caution flag comes out.
