The English Verb [antikvár]

The English Verb is a revised edition of the course of lectures bearing the same title, published in 1982 by Tipografía Universitatii din Timi§oara.The present volume is intended for students and teachers of English, and pays more attention to the difficulties that the Romanian learners of English may encounter in their study of the English verb. The treatment of the various problems is not exhaustive, but it is as systematic and practical as possible, containing clear explanations that use traditional terms, and many examples; also, at the end of the various chapters, Luminita Frentiu has included many translation exercises, with a key. The work owes a lot to a well-known reference book, A Grammar of Contemporary English, by R. Quirk, S. Greenbaum, G. Leech, and J. Svartvik (Longman 1972) and its subsequent variants.
