Bővebb ismertető
Limitations of space have prevented the inclusion in this book of a really comprehensive survey of the Chicago underworld during the prohibition epoch. For more detailed accounts of the activities of Johnny Torrio, A1 Capone, Dion O'Banion and other ornaments of gangland the reader is referred to Part Three of the Illinois Crime Survey, by John Landesco; The One-Way Ride, by Walter Noble Burns; Al Capone, by Fred D. Pasley; and King Crime, by Collinson Owen, which presents an Englishman's point of view.
I am grateful to many Chicagoans for advice and assistance in gathering material for this book. I wish particularly to express my thanks to Mitchell Dawson; Miss Mildred Bruder of the Chicago Public Library; Colonel Henry Barrett Chamberlin of the Chicago Crime Commission; and L. E. Dicke of Evanston, Illinois.
