The Good Seed 2018 [antikvár]

Foreword The foreword to the Good Seed that appears annually with its daily meditations on texts from the Bible is generally written almost two years before the relevant year begins. This makes it impossible to comment on conditions close to the publication date and means that specific events that prompt comment at the time of writing are outdated and possibly forgottén when readers receive their copy. The Bible, the Word of God, however, is never out of date. Its teaching, its promises, its encouragement and even its warnings and threats are always apposite, and no-one is exempt from the effect of its message. This is the reason why we so desire that our readers should contemplate the content of each day's message, even if it pricks the conscience. The Bible informs us of God's will and purposes regarding His creature man. Central to these is the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Son, whom He sent to be the Saviour of the world. Our wish is to bring the message of the gospel, the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, home to those for whom He is unknown, misunderstood, or even disregarded. The western world is turning away from Christianity to other religions or atheism. Many people, politicians in particular, appear to feel assured that they can rectify the mounting problems that universally are causing legislation of an order hitherto unknown, besides huge expenses. Such persons, sadly, give little or no thought to Almighty God. Yet He still seeks the "weary and heavy laden", i.e. all who are burdened with life's troubles, offering them peace and assur-ance in the eternal life that He gives through faith in the work of His beloved Son. This is the message that the Good Seed 2018 brings. Our wish is that our readers may receive God's blessing daily as they read the following leaves and apply the Word of God to their own lives.
