Bővebb ismertető
Foreword Each pediatric resident and pediatrician is confronted with a wide array of medical conditions from acute lifethreatening disorders to common problems encountered in the everyday practice of pediatrics. Over the years, The HSC Handbook of Pediatrics has provided a reliable source of information which is practical, easy to find and most important, available when the information is most needed. The Handbook is not intended to be a comprehensive textbook of pediatrics but, rather, a useful guide to initiate the diagnostic or management process. The eighth edition of The HSC Handbook of Pediatrics provides a concise, management-oriented approach to the investigation and treatment of many pediatric conditions. The Handbook has been adapted to provide essential pediatric information for medical students, residents and practicing physicians. The book consists of 27 condensed systems-oriented chapters as well as sections on emergency procedures, laboratory reference values, and a drug formulary. In addition, The Handbook includes useful tables, graphs, and nomograms which will assist in the evaluation of the pediatric patient. The HSC Handbook of Pediatrics was written and edited by senior residents and subspecialty fellows with extensive input and guidance from the faculty and staff of The Hospitál for Sick Children. I should like to especially acknowledge the efforts of associate editor, Dr. Patrícia Parkin, and the tremendous contribution of the editor, Dr. Alison Shefler, who deserves the major credit for creating the eighth edition of The Handbook. Congratulations for a job well done!
