NOTES ON THE MEETING
I. — OBJEGTS AND ORGANISATION OF THE CONFERENCE
We think it well to recall, at the beginning of this account, the aims of CIGRÉ and the principles of its organisation.
Foundation. — The International Conference on Large Electric Systems (CIGRÉ), was founded in March 1921 under the aegis of the International Electrotechnical Commission. It includes members írom all countries.
It is not only the oldest of all international electrotechnical orga-nisations (except the I. E. C.) but it is alsó by far the largest, having somé 2 743 Permanent Members and 2 590 Corresponding Members situated all over the globe.
Its biennial Conferences have become the periodical meeting place of electrical engineers from all pver the world (1945 active Members in 1962 from 5o countries accompanied by 542 ladies).
