NOTES ON THE CONVENTION
I. — OBJECTS AND ORGANISATION OF THE CONFERENGE
We think it well to recall, at the beginning of this account, the aims of CIGRÉ and the principles of its organisation.
Foundation. — The International Conference on Large Electric Systems (CIGRÉ), was founded in March 1921 under the aegis of the International Electrotechnical Commission. It includes members from all countries.
It is not only the oldest of all international electrotechnical orga-nisations (except the I. E. C.) but it is alsó by far the largest, having somé 2 400 Permanent Members and 2 800 Corresponding Members situated all over the globe.
Its biennial Conventions have become the periodical meeting place of electrical engineers from all over the world (1764 active Members in 1968 from 42 countries, accompanied by 420 ladies).
