Bővebb ismertető
Once a year, in the spring, Farmer Jolly had a picnic. This year the picnic promised to be better than ever, for Mr. Jolly's family was larger than ever. There was Mrs. Jolly, and Dávid and Peggy and Marion and Peter and Barbara and Mary, the land-girl, and Dan the farm-hand. As they spread the big cloth on one of the fields near the farmhouse, Mr. Jolly laughed and said to Mrs. Jolly, "This is a splendid place for a picnic. That's right, you and I sit here on the cow. You sit here Dávid-take your foot out of the rabbit's mouth-he wants to have a good time too. And Peggy, you help your mother-mind you butter the buns and not the cow. Marion, you take charge of the jam and don't give it all to the flies. Peter, you watch the carrots and see the donkeys don't take them." And so the picnic began and as it did Mr. Jolly looked at them all and said, " I hope all our a ni mais are having a good time. Somehow I would like to know what they are all doing. I hope they are happy, too, for it would not be right that we should be the only ones that are having so much fun, would it ? What do you think? " he asked Mrs. Jolly. She laughed as she replied, " I think that in their own way they are all having a picnic, too." And she was right-and if you will just turn over the pages you will see what all the animals on the farm were doing.
