Bővebb ismertető
PrefaceThe National Commission on Technological Development (OMFB) and the Institute for World Economics of the Hungárián Academy of Sciences (VKI) have agreed to start a joint series of publications. It aims to provide comprehensive and widely comprehensible information on current issues of overall economic and technological development, through coordinated presentation of research findings from both institutions. Each publication will explore the trends in the world economy to do with the topic it covers. Dominant among the subjects chosen will be issues affecting Hungary 's preparations for accession to the European Union, due to the immediacy of these. The generally short analysis will be accompanied by ample statistics, tables and coloured figures and graphs as aids to understanding the key aspects of the subject discussed. The first publication in the series presents the main changes in trade relations between Hungary, the European Union and the associated countries, in the period between 1989 and 1997. A further study, dealing with the costs of accession to the European Union, as calculated by various methods, will appear shortly. This will be followed by a publication analysing the relations to technology, productivity and employment and their impact on intemational competitiveness. The series of publications is intended to be of use in public administration, research and education, and in shaping public opinion. It is alsó designed to inform the diplomats and economic managers participating in negotiations at various levels with Brussels and with individual EU member-countries.Lajos Nyiri Executive Director National Committee for Technological Development
