Preface The books in this series provide further reading material for those working through the three books of Present Day English for Foreign Students. They may also be used as supplementary readers independently of the Present Day English course. This Stage B Reader uses the 700-word vocabulary of Present Day English, Book One, together with the additional words listed after each story. There is a complete list of new words with a phonetic transcript on page 60. Only those tenses and sentence structures dealt with in Book One are introduced. The Readers are based upon the work which students have already covered in the course. Thus whilst they are working through Lessons 1-9 of Book Two, they should be able to use this Reader without difficulty. E. F. C.
