The Miracle Worker [antikvár]

András Mezei's short novel takes us to the 1940s, the time of anti-Jewish laws, persecutions, murders. The hero is the son of a fruiterer at Klauzál Square who recounts his story in the novel. This book is a statement of slave-like humiliations which is melloved into bearable existence by so called miracles. What miracles? None. Yet his mind, demanding equilibrium, creates a type of miracle; it is unseen and invisible but it enables him to make order in his own heart, to create an imaginary world governed by true laws.
