preface to third edition This edition of "The Normál Encephalogram" is being published after the appearance of the long delayed "Abnormal Pneumoen-cephalogram." The publication of the latter coincided more or less with the exhaustion of the second edition of the former. The desirability of making the two volumes available as companion pieces stimulated the present edition. The author availed himself of the opportunity to correct a number of minor errors, and im-prove the text and illustrations in accordance with a number of constructive suggestions appearing in various reviews of the second edition. The literature was alsó brought up to date and somé new material added. My thanks, as always, are due to the friendly coöperation of the publishers, Messrs. Lea and Febiger, and to my secretaries, Mrs. Hilda Feiring and Miss Mary Norton. I alsó wish to acknowledge my indebtedness to Dr. B. S.
