PrefaceLike astrology, the ancient art and science of hand analysis has enjoyed increasing popularity in recent years. Although still tainted by images of gypsy fortune-tellers, a growing number of medical doctors, therapists, scientists and other serious individuals have discovered that the shape, contours and lines of the human hand are reliable indicators of character traits, health, intelligence and creative ability.I first became interested in hand analysis while studying political science in South America. A friend was going to visit her cousin who read hands and invited me to join her. During the visit, her cousin read my hands, and I was deeply impressed by her insight and accuracy. After the analysis, she mentioned that I might also become a good hand reader if I wanted to invest the time and effort. She recommended several books for me to read and offered to give me some basic instruction before I returned to the United States. By the time I left South America, I had read the hands of over a hundred people, and began to collect hand prints to observe if any changes would occur in the hands in time.Over the years my fascination with hands continued to grow. Although I had always been amazed at the ability of the hands to reveal past and potential illnesses, traumas and achievements, I became primarily interested in the psychological aspects of hand analysis. The product of fifteen years of research and experience, it has been written with the ongoing guidance of a leading psychotherapist. Although the book will appeal
