FOREWORD
The four books of The Path to English provide a carefully graded and systematic four-year course in the fundamentals of English.
From a practical study of trends in the modern methods of teaching this subject and the resultant degrees of success which have attended their adoption, the author has endeavoured to provide the pupil with the essentials necessary for progressive work in the later stages of a child's school career.
The many branches of English study have been included in the course — Reading and Comprehension, Vocabulary Enlargement and the choice of Suitable Words, Sentence Construction, Punctuation, Composition, Rhyme, and Grammar. As a means of securing definite progress in the realm of written expression, the subject has been linked with that of sentence construction.
For daily practice in Spelling and additional exercises in Composition, The Spell-Well Word Book I forms a valuable complement to Book One of this series.
