The war was fought on land, at sea, in the air and in every possible climate and landscape. Soldiers battled in the steamy jungles of South East Asia and in the winter snow of Russia. Great tank armies rolled through the North African desert. Across the wide Pacific Ocean, there were sea battles between the biggest naval forces in history.
