PREFACEthe popularity of my Shakespeare Treasury in this series of little books has suggested that an anthology of further passages from Shakespeare's writings might well prove an acceptable companion. Primarily it is an offering for those who do not have an intimate knowledge of Shakespeare's plays but who in odd moments have inclination to discover the magic of the appeal of the Stratford dramatist whose genius has won the admiration of the world.The selections which follow are essentially a personal choice, providing an illustration of the infinite range and variety of Shakespeare's knowledge as also of his matchless understanding of human nature.
