THE VENUS OF KONPARA The Venus of Konpara is a moving and exciting tale of six people in search of an ancient Indian statue and the tumultuous effect the search has on their lives. Set in an Indian jungle in 1890, it probes into their private thoughts, feelings, and dark intimacies while the statue gradually becomes a symbol of their deepest selves- almost as though the ancient Venus were drawing each of them on to a fuller understanding of his or her own self. As the action develops against the exotic background of Victorian India, so do the forces that motivate the characters- love and lust, greed, courage and nobility.
