TRAPP'S PEACE
brian callison was born in Manchester in 1934. He
was educated at the High School of Dundee before
entering the merchant navy in 1950 as midshipman
with the Blue Funnel Line, sailing mainly on cargo
liners to the Far East and Australia. On leaving the
sea he studied at Dundee College of Art. He has held
several administrative posts, including managing
directorship of a construction company and general
manager of a large entertainment centre.
He also served several years in the territorial army
with the 51st Highland Division Provost Company,
Royal Military Police, and now maintains an active
connection with the sea as Head of Unit, Royal
Naval Auxiliary Service.
His first phenomenally successful novel A Flock of
Ships was published in 1970 and has been translated
into many foreign languages. This was followed by
A Plague of Sailors, The Dawn Attack, A Web of
Salvage, Trapp's War, A Ship is Dying, A Frenzy of
Merchantmen and The Judas Ship. No less an
authority than Alistair MacLean has said, 'there can
be no better adventure writer in the country today*.
