FOREWORD The present volume inoludes the material of the Symposium on "Traumatic Shock" organized by the Hungárián Sooiety for Traumatology. In this Symposium it was attempted to compare the experimentál data with the clinical observations. For this reason a round-table conference was organized for experimentalists like physiologists, biochemists, morphologists and clinicians including anaesthesiologists, internists, neurologists, ambulance officers, surgeons and traumatologists. The main purpose was the oritical selection of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures available for everyday practice by their relatíve simplicity. The success of the Symposium was significantly promotedbythecontributions of somé excellent foreign (Bulgárián, English, Germán, Swedish) specialists. We should like to express our gratitude to them and to all participants. This book is dedicated first of all to the clinicians engaged in the difficult everyday task of giving aid to the steadily increasing number of patients in traumatic shock. 7
