From Civitavecchia to Tőrre Astura run kilometre upon kilometre of fiat sandy beaches, this with the exception of the rocky area of Capo Linaro in the vicinity of Civitavecchia, somewhat damaged by the frequent presence of buildings. The sea always has its charm, especially when in its waters, no longer as clean and transparent as when the Etruscans and Romans sailed them, one can see the reflection of the remains of ages gone by, shreds of histoiy which relate true I stories and distant legends. But the tourist attractions of this area are not limited to this: at the frontier with the area of Viterbo there are the Tolfa Mountains and, farther East somé reserves and then laké Bracciano, one of the biggest volcanic lakes in Lazio. Be it for the size of the area and for the variety of things one can do, it seems opportune to indicate at least three itineraries each based on a theme even though they are not entirely disconnected írom one another: one naturalistic, one archaéologico-monumental and one religious. Transversal to these will be the gastronomic itinerary, in no way secondary and dosely linked to local "sagre" and feasts which still today keep up traditions which progress has been unable to suppress.
