The Book of I lours Cod. Lat. 227 of the Széchéim National Library in Budapest was illuminated in Rouen at the end of the 15th cenlur\- with a series of scenes from the Ancient Testament. It can be compared both in style and in iconography with tlie ms. W. 224 in tile Baltimore Walters Art .Museum, die ms. 5 in the Cherbourg Bibliotheque municipale and the ms. II. 1 of the Pierpont Morgan Library. In the manuscripts of Baltimore and Cherbourg the most of the typological connections were borrowed from the Speculum humanae salfationLs and the compositions go back to the Lyon edition of l-t78. The typological connections and the compositions in the Budape.st manuscript follow an edition of the liiblta pauperum blockbook. The Chertiourg manuscript was illuminated in the workshop of the Master of the Echevinage de Rouen, the other three Books of I lours were painted Liy Boberl Bowin, a miniaturist working one generation later The miniatures of the manuscript in Budapest presumably preser\'e .some lost compositions of the .Mastiir of the tlchevinage de Rouen. Lat. 227. La littérature a jusque-la estimé qu'il s'agissait d'un manuscrit frant^ais - parisien d'apres certains auteurs - réalisé autour de 1480.' Il apparaît ce-[lendant que le manuscrit lut sans nul doute composé a Rouen et que ses miniatures, oeuvres de l'enlumineur Robert Boyvin. datent probablement des années 1490. Les analyses de ce livre d'heures ont jusque-la mis eti exergue sa particu-larië d'etre décoré d'images tirées de l'Ancien Testament et ont indiqué les scenes du Nouveau * Agnes Tóvizi. historienne d'art. La présente étude a pour objet l'examen dans son unité de ce groupe d'ouvres tmique dans l'art des manuscrits français. Description du manuscrit Le manuscrit est composé de 126 feuilles de parchemin de 14,5 x 10 cm. Dans le calendrier, la partie de texte occupe un espace de 10,8 x 7,2 cm. Divisé en detix colonnes et 32 lignes, le texte est écrit a l'encre or et rouge, avec des rehauts bleus. Dans les autres parties du livre d'heures, la [)arlie de texte occupe un espace de 8,1 x 5,1 cm, il est composé de 20 lignes écrites a l'encre Ana HínliiríiH'Arlium, Tiiiiiii.'i -tT.
