VORWORT DES VERLAGES Man darf wohl behaupten, dass die ungarischen Fotokünstler allén jenen, die sich auf dem Erdengrund - berufsmássig oder aus Liebhaberei - mit der Fotografie befassen, sie praktisch ausüben oder ihre Theorie und Ásthetik mit Aufmerksamkeit verfolgen, rühmlich bekannt sind. Bei Überreichung dieser neuesten Auswahl - sie enthált das Beste von dem, was das letzte Jahr hervorbrachte - ist es daher nicht nötig, unsere Meister vorzustellen; sie sind von internationalen Ausstellungen her hinlánglich bekannt. Höchstens sei uns ein Hinweis auf die junge Gar de gestattet, die, wie aus der Auswahl ersichtlich, sich den Altén anschliessend und ihren klassisch genannten Stil fortführend, sich auch für die neuesten Richtungen der Fotokunst aufgeschlossen zeigt. Wir unterbreiten die jüngsten Schöpfungen der ungarischen Fotokünstler dem Urteil der internationalen Fachleute in der Überzeugung, dass diese Bilder würdig am Werk weiter bauen, das die Vorfahren nicht ruhmlos begonnen habén. Corvina Verlag PUBLI SHER'S PREFACE It is probably not too bold a statement to say that Hungárián camera artists are well known to photo enthusiasts all over the world whether they be professionals, amateurs, or just admirers of good photography. Now, when presenting this selection of the cream of one year's crop, we see no need for introducing the artists, most of whom are already well known from international exhibitions. We would like to call attention, however, to the fact-ample evidence for which is found in this collection-that the work of the new generation of Hungárián photographers reflects the most modern trends as well as the classic style they have learned from older cameramen. When submitting the new works of Hungárián photographic art to the judgement of international critics and reviewers, we are convinced that these pictures continue to mark the road on which the predecessors of these artists have already shed somé lustre by a fair number of distinguished creations.
