How to Use This Book
Because, at their cores, storytelling and humor have so much in common, this book will be most helpful to you if you first go through the information on storj^elling and then go on to humor. You'll soon see that humor represents a certain, stylized type of storytelling, and your understanding of the format and elements of stories will assist you in your attempts to be more humorous.
Throughout the book, you will find Tips, short blurbs of information that are tangential, but useful. Don't ignore them; they will accelerate your progress as a professional speaker.
At the end of each chapter is a short Summary. These give you the chance to review what you've learned and to make sure you haven't missed any important points; later they will serve as an easy way to review the content of each chapter.
Also at the end of each chapter are Exercises that encourage you to pursue what you've learned and to try out the new concepts you've encountered.
