Bővebb ismertető
Conferences on Therapy and Pharmacological Research have been organized in this country for nearly 10 years. The target of these conferences has been to provide a platform for the synthesis of the enormous fields of pharmacological and chemical research and clinical pharmacoíogy. It may be stated without exaggeration that these sessions have aroused considerable interest among the experts both home and abroad. Faithful to the traditions oí the preceding conferences, the main lines of the present Vth Conference were again pharmacological research and clinical pharmacoíogy. More than 100 papers were read and all of them dealt with recent advances in these fields. Though the evaluation of the proceedings is beyond the scope of this note, reference is made to somé discoveries by Hungárián scientists of whom we are justly proud. Professor Knoll presented a comprehensive survey of the research work conducted in connection with the analgesic compound MZ-108, which he developed in collaboration with the research team of the CHINOIN Chemical and Pharmaceutical Works. Another not less exciting topic was the survey of the very precise and tenacious research work on humán ACTH, performed by Professor Bruckner and his co-workers. The fully synthetic ACTH developed by this team represents a great step forward in the chemical synthesis of organic compounds, considering that ACTH consists of 39 aminő acids. These results not only indicate the high standards of Hungárián pharmacological research, but alsó attract attention to the enormous tasks which are awaiting the scientists in this and related fields. You will excuse me for not mentioning here many other outstanding reports both by Hungárián and foreign participants, but I believe that this brief note gives a generál impression on the standards of the Conference and the full texts of all papers are printed in this volume. May I thank all participants for their valuable contributions and express the hope that they show similar interest in the forthcoming meetings. J. Purman General Secretarv J
