USEFUL INFORMATION The province of Vicenza is comprised of 121 municipalities and has a total population of 747,957 inhabitants (1991 census). Its overall surface area is 2,722.20 square kilometres, 1,094.25 of which are mountainous territory, 814.25 hilly and 813.70 lowland plain. Vicenza is connected with the other major cities of the region by the Milan-Venice railway line and A4 motorway. The province is also crossed by the A31 Valdastico motorway and by the Vicenza-Thiene-Schio railway line. In addition the municipal districts are linked to the provincial capital by public bus service (run by Ferrotramvie Vicentine). The Local Tourist Board has its head office in Vicenza at Piazza Duomo no. 5 (tel. 444/54.41.22) with branches in Bas-sano del Grappa (tel. 424/52.43.51), Recoaro Terme (tel. 445/7.50.70) and Tonezza del Cimone (445/74.95.00). In Vicenza, at Piazza Matteotti 12, there is also a Tourist Information Office (tel. 444/32.08.54) run on behalf of the Local Tourist Board (APT) by the "Vicenza e" Consortium (tel. 444/32.71.41).
