World News CORNWALL, England — Farmer's wife Rosie White died an agonizing death when she climbed under a giant harrow operated by her husband to save her little puppy — and was impaled on the harrow's 12-inch spikes! Farmer Alexander White, 49, was tried for murder after investigators charged that he asked his wife to climb under the harrow attached to his tractor to help him repair it — then intentionally killed her by lowering the device's deadly spikes onto her. Prosecutors accused the hapless hubby of doing away with Rosie to collect on her $400,000 life insurance policy. They also claimed he was having an affair with neighbor Jackie Wame and wanted his mate of 18 years out of the way. But White and Mrs. Warne denied on the witness stand that their friendship was romantic. Stories of Miite's sensational trial were splashed across the front pages of newspapers across England for more than a week. But the widower was acquitted after convincing the jury that the 42-year-old mother of his three sons had climbed under the harrow to retrieve her collie puppy Splash. He said he was unaware that she was underneath when he lowered the harrow. "I had no reason to kill my wife," he said. "I loved her with all my heart." The widower told the court he did not discover Rosie's body until four hours after the grisly mishap — and the sight sent him reeling with shock. "You couldn't recognize her," he said.
