Why so many Denominations? [antikvár]

Before You Turn This Page Truth sure seems elusive these days! Some people spend a lifetime trying to find it—and come up empty. Others think they have found it, only to discover they are face to face with a counterfeit. They've accepted a fraud—and possibly a deadly fraud, at that. Remember Jonestown and Waco! The cults have a certain pull. Their authoritative answers strike a responsive chord in all of us. In contrast to many mainline churches whose teachings are so watered down you can believe about anything, the definiteness of the cults may seem attractive. In their attempt to keep from being labeled either "narrow-minded fanatics" or "religious bigots," many thinking people have completely rejected the idea that God has a true church. Yet, deep within all of us, there is an inborn desire to really know. Does God have a movement on earth today? If so, how can I find it? Why are there so many denominations? Where did they originate? Jesus' words are reassuring: "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). And later, He adds, "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:17).
