to the Fourth Edition
This is a practical book explaining how you can really succeed in the skill of writing assignments — essays, reports and dissertations.
Each chapter covers a different stage of assignment writing. Each is illustrated with examples and mini case studies to show you the results of both good and bad practices.
Summary checklists are included to help you, and each chapter ends with self-evaluation questions to ensure that you are on the right lines.
If you read this book and follow the advice and guidance provided, then you should achieve success in assignment writing whether for study, work or pleasure. The skills you acquire should be helpful to you in all sorts of ways throughout your life.
My own students tell me that they have found the book very useful to them and certainly they are producing very good assignments! This fourth edition includes revisions and improvements in order to provide further support for your assignment wridng, and includes guidance on online databases and electronic journals to make your research easier. It is used by students across several college and university courses.
