"Their works are the accretion of centuries of those wonderful past ages" wrote the famous French novelist and essayist André Malraux of the Paris exhibition of Croatian naive art. And Salvador Dali declared them to be "painted fables". The characteristic and unmistakable art of the Croatian naive artists can be seen in the Croatian Museum of Naive Art. Y ou will be enchanted by the beauty and variety of their interprétation of a past atmosphere seen in landscapes, winter scenes, portraits and peasant farmyards. The exhibition includes many works by famous naive artists such as : Ivan Generalic, Virius, Smajic, Skurijen, Rabuzin, Vecenaj, Kovacic, Lackovic and Josip Generalié. The world of blue streams, cocker els of many colours, idyllic village scenes and atmosphere, is a world which we are sadly aware is slowly disappearing except in memories which we wish to cherish.
