The technique of foundation piecing is a quicl< and easy way to make beautiful, complex-looking quilt blocks without the time associated with traditional piecing.Foundation piecing is sewing fabric pieces to a foundation, such as paper or fabric, following a numerical sequence. Lines are drawn on the wrong side of the foundation. Fabric is placed on the unmarked (right) side of the foundation with right side up and sewn on the marked (wrong) side. This technique allows the quilter to piece even the smallest pieces more quickly and accurately, since all sewing follows drawn lines.Provided with each quilt block in this book are a full-color photograph of the actual block, its size, level of difficulty, full-sized pattern pieces for tracing onto your foundation, a full-color unit placement diagram of the assembled block, and a black and white seam line diagram of the assembled block. Many of these blocks are made of separate units. The colored diagram indicates how each unit is placed in the block The black and white diagram indicates seams.When reading the seam line diagram, blue lines indicate a seam and magenta dots indicate where units must be matched together.
