Foreword1^oday there is a wave of "awakening" sweeping across the earth. More and more people are realizing that in deviating from the natural order, we have lost something precious' but, if we live according to the universal laws, we can recover what has been lost and attain the great blessing of real health.Every hour at my practice in London, the doorbell rings and a couple or an individual sits opposite me and pours out feelings. On one occasion, I had a thirty-one-year-old woman sobbing about her parents'divorce more than twenty years ago and why she couldn't find a lasting relationship. Even though she was a top-flight government adviser, it felt like I had a small child in the room as she looked up from her pile of crumpled tissues and asked, "Why did nobody think about me?"Since the publication of my book, DIET FOR A NEW AMERICA, I have come into contact wdth an extraordinary array of dedicated people who are working diligently towards a truly healthy and sane world. I applaud these conscientious people and am encouraged by their efforts. One of these organizations is the Hippocrates Health Institute which has been turning people away from over-processed, health-destroying foods for decades, and I was pleased to accept their invitation to contribute a foreword to this book. Our culture has conditioned us away from contact with our spirits; taught us not to feel our bodies or respond to our emotions which has distracted us from heeding our innate wisdom. It has mechanized, trivialized and consumerized our basic human necessities, and reduced our most fundamental encounter with nature, the act of eating, into an act of death.Death to the animals whose cooked corpses we euphemistically call steaks; death to our bodies through the disastrous health consequences of
