Bővebb ismertető
We are launching our Wine Guide under the old title but based on different criteria. We start from the bold premise -all the while accepting full responsibility for any mistakes -of attempting to assist wine consumers from a perspective that is admittedly individualistic and distinctively our own. What you are holding in your hand, then, is a synopsis of the personal tasting notes that the co-authors Mészáros & Rohály accumulated over the course of a year. We are indebted to our disciples, most of them WSET graduates, whose tasting protocol complies with the best practices accepted in the international wine trade. In this scheme, the value of a wine is defined by the balance of acidity and roundness from the alcohol rather than by sheer varietal character. Alsó, the notes of a wine we call "ornamental" weigh far less in the assessment than the two major components and their interplay. All the wines described here are at least sufficiently representative of their respective wineries, which in turn are recognized as being prominently expressive of their respective wine regions. We hasten to add that very good wines apart from those discussed in this book may certainly exist. We just have not been able to make their acquaintance or do not have consistently good experiences with them going back years. The proliferation of wines of truly great quality means that the majority of examples introduced and discussed in this book weigh in with four or five stars. The Guide lists a large number of star-awarded wines. We have tasted them all and selected from them a "short list" for actual description. Clearly, the narrative characterization of each of the listed wines would have run to a volume of nearly 1000 pages.
