Orbán György a vokális zene elkötelezett mestere, igen jelentôs dal-, kórus-, világi- és egyházzenei œuvre-vel. Az 1990-es években öt Mária-ima megzenésítés került ki a zeneszerzô műhelyébôl, a 2023-ban kiadott, „sotto voce” Ave Maria a hatodik, egy fiatalon eltávozott zenésztárs és barát emlékére készült. A négy változat (nôikar, vegyeskar, zongorakíslrete dal és szóló zongora) zenei anyaga alig tér el egymástól. Talán a „sotto voce” jelölésbôl következik, hogy a zene dinamikai skálája a pp-mp körön belül marad, a csendes suttogás hangulatát csupán a záró „Amen” forte felkiáltása szakítja meg. * György Orbán is a dedicated master of vocal music, with a very significant oeuvre of lieder, of choral secular and sacred music. In the 1990s, he composed five settings of Hail Mary-prayer, the sixth, Ave Maria "sotto voce", was published in 2023 in memory of a young musician and friend who passed away. The musical material of the four versions (female choir, mixed choir, lied with piano accompaniment and solo piano) hardly differs from each other. Perhaps it follows from the title’s 'sotto voce' that the dynamic range of the music remains within the pp-mp range, the atmosphere of quiet whispering being interrupted only by the forte exclamation of final “Amen”.
